The closeup of two letters of the entire side of the coin is showing a slightly shifted secondary image that is not at the same height as the primary image. This would be a case of strike/mechanical doubling and not a doubled die. Being the Mint in the late 90's or early 2000's (I forget the specific year) went to a single squeeze process for making dies from the master hubs, this virtually eliminated all doubled die varieties from then on. Some extremely minor varieties are listed in some sources but it is not clear if these are just severe cases of mechanical doubling as they are not widely recognized or accepted.

After checking Variety Vista and also Wexlers Die Varieties in addition to NGC's Variety Plus, none of these resources are showing a DDR for the 2015 D Shield Cent.

Mechanical doubling?  This is a dead ringer for a protozoan parasite.
