There's something strange about the date on this coin.  There are cuds on the date (9, 5, and 8) and the T and R in TRUST.  I couldn't find any errors in reference material on this coin.  Any thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated.

I think that there are die chips on each of the digits of the date, including the top of the "1", and on the indicated letters. The depressed area on the "5" appears to be a nick. Die chips are generally regarded as indicative of die deterioration and do not add value to a coin, but some collectors find them interesting.

Die chips on and around date elements and letters are very common on coins from the 1950s and early 1960s, such as "BIE" cents and "bar" nickels of that era. See, for example, the following:

Die breaks, die lines, die chips, die collapse -- were certain coins more susceptible to one or the other defects than others ?  For instance, a large Double Eagle or Franklin Half vs. a Lincoln Cent or Roosevelt Dime ?

Larger dies were more likely to have invisible defects due to improper hardening, annealing and tempering.
