What is the best way to print a competitive set?

Your question is too vague, what are you trying to print, the coins in your set, the coins that are needed to complete the set?   Did your set win a best of category and you want to print the award certificate?   Need to know what it is you want to help you.

I open a set online to look at it.

Can I print the set on paper?

I right click to print but, it is very messy,

is there a better way?

No, as far as I know there is no way to do what you are trying to do other than how you have tried.

hi,

you can mark the area with your mouse first and right-click for print after that. I get a pretty decent result in Edge, I think It's not different for other browsers too
