Stolen coins be careful

Welcome to the NGC chat board.

It is unclear whether you are trying to report that this rare 1822 Capped Bust dime was stolen from you (or someone else) or whether you have some other question about it. The NGC Registry forum is for topics pertaining to the registry and may not receive as much attention as topics posted on other forums such as the "U.S., World, and Ancient Coins" forum. In any event, you should explain your point more clearly.

If you are trying to make the numismatic community aware that this coin has been stolen, I can think of two actions you may take in addition to informing the police in the jurisdiction where it was stolen. First of all, you may inform NGC Customer Service that this NGC certified coin has been stolen, so that NGC may include this information in its Certification Verification application for this coin. See NGC Plays Vital Role in Criminal Investigation Involving $400,000 in Stolen Coins | NGC (ngccoin.com). Additionally, you may report the theft to the Numismatic Crimes Information Center. See https://numismaticcrimes.org/.

Thank you so much for your insight is greatly appreciated. Yes, indeed the coin was sold to me and was stolen by the individual who sold the coin to me on eBay after the coin was paid for full. I was blocked at the contacted the police are involved in the case in Florida as well as federal agents, due to the fact that it’s cross state lines, in addition to that a team of attorneys are already working on this case. We is coin dealers need to look out for each other, and make sure that situations as such never ever happen again, and therefore, I felt the needs to inform the community, I cannot go into much more detail due to an ongoing case. However, I can inform you that the coin was fully paid for and the coin was never received months later without reasoning or logic besides, for the fact that the seller decided he will take his chances. He picked the wrong person to take his chances with however since he blocked me two days after I paid for the coin in full there is no way of me communicating with him directly, and therefore the authorities are involved the coin will be returned however, it do not want to have someone else drag along into this case because the charges are extremely severe thank you for your insight and I will look into it come tomorrow. I will also speak to the attorneys working on the case, and will inform them of your recommendation and your experience. Have a good night.

I'm sorry to hear what happened to you.  I assume that you have also taken this matter up with eBay

It appears to me that the seller stole your money, not the coin. (Perhaps he never actually owned it.)  I agree that your attorneys should advise you as to your course of action.

No worries about me. The coin was stolen money was stolen. Everything will be taken care of. Everything will be returned. It was paid by a credit card so there’s no issue there and of course I was in touch with eBay legal team yesterday for back hour and a half which doesn’t happen with anyone I have deep connections in eBay and, they agree with our path forward because once something is paid for eBay does not have the authority to make a individual handover something that belongs to someone else that’s state and federal law and that would supersede anything that eBay put into its policy but just the way it went about  The unethical behavior nagging itself deserves to receive a heavy, heavy tall and it will be receiving a heavy toll. I cannot go into further detail. This is a case that is in the midst ongoing lag pull out and I will keep everyone up-to-date unfortunately, this time Ebay was the evil that , many people need to go through and it’s not eBay. It’s the individuals that rants for everyone else. Have a good evening. Thank you for reaching out.
