Marcelo Watson
Thanks I really wanted to know if it was the silver one. I will keep it well protected.
Popular Post VKurtB
There are three types of 1776-1976 San Francisco mint quarters: 1) The clad proof, from the 1975 and 1976 clad proof sets with all the denominations. 2) The silver proof, from the 3-coin proof set. 3) The silver uncirculated, from the 3-coin uncirculated set. This is the one you have. Any 1776-1976 quarters made for circulation were made in Philadelphia or Denver. None came from San Francisco. VKurtB
There is an unasked question here about why there are so many uncirculated 1776-1976 quarters from San Francisco. There WERE lots and lots sold. 1) It was the ONLY way to get an uncirculated 1776-1976-S. 2) The three coin set was VERY affordable, much cheaper than the Mint sells ANYTHING these days. 3) There was no mintage limit, and they were available for a VERY long time. I can drive to the nearest coin shop and but any set to this day.
