@VKurtB Really looking for a community focusing on Eagles.

  • buying
  • selling
  • attribute desirability
  • Labeling and Reholdering
  • Cross Platforming ( converting PCGS to NGC)

and Im sure 50 other ideas around eagles

I feel I need to provide fair warning. There is a school of thought out there, from which I am an Honors Graduate, that concentrating on collecting Eagles borders on the bizarre. They are in nearly infinite supply in gaudy high grades, have no real rarity whatsoever, and are perhaps the SUREST way to hemorrhage red ink in losing money in a branch of numismatics. Everyone CHARGES the collector for every nuance, but they instantly become “I only pay 5% off of melt for them” when the collector desires to sell.

When it comes to ASE's I would recommend collecting only the proof and burnished versions of ASE's that have been already graded NGC MS70 and PF70 as they each have lower mintages compared to the regular version of ASE's for each year. To complete a set of ASE regular version you'll need 1986 - present. In order to do a complete set of proofs you'll also need 1986 - present and lastly to do a complete set of the burnished version you'll need 2006 - present. Due to the burnished ASE's being relatively new and having the lowest amount minted each year they are very slowly gaining some traction in the ASE collector community.

To each his own, but unlike classic coins, these are available in HUGE SUPPLY and also are pretty much only 1 ounce of bullion.  I have a few Proofs and specials myself, but just as a novelty item.

Any interest in Classic Eagles or even Double Eagles ?  xD

I wonder what collectors of palladium, APE's, think of the current market and if it will rebound?

Don't follow it too closely, but with EV's 7% of U.S. car sales YTD I have to think that the catalytic converter issue is going to be a major headwind for the white metals going forward.

I just bought two brand new gasoline burners, and I’m 68. I hope to NEVER be forced to go EV. I drove two. Absolutely useless. I need 750 daily miles range or it’s useless.

Just to prove my point that burnished ASE's having lower mintages each year compared to their regular yearly counterparts (VKurtB's point about regular ASE's being very common and easy to find in NGC MS70 grade) here are the mintages of burnished ASE's from each year from 2006 - 2019 and their regular issue counterparts. I only did the mintages from those years since I haven't added any more burnished ASE's to my collection since then.

I get one regular strike per year for my generic ASE Dansco album. I also buy one burnished one. That’s IT. I used to buy proofs, and special combo sets. No more. I got one of each type in the design crossover year for the Dansco. I’ve never had one graded, never BOUGHT one graded, and I never will do that. I have a slabbed one that was an ANA premium item for a multiple year renewal or something. Now I’m a Life Member, ANA National Volunteer, and a Donor/Patron. (Nothing to do with tequila.)

I only collect the burnished ASE's in NGC MS70 grade and once I get that "Caught up" I'll start a gold eagle collection. Bottom line I only collect gold and silver coins.

Only moderns ?  No pre-1933 gold or silver ?

Not yet but probably soon as I'm tip toeing back to coin collecting.

Great...some excellent veterans on those coins plus I'm a learning intermediate guy. xD

Already have some great threads on DEs and Eagles, plus Liberty Head DEs, gold bullion, etc.

See you there......(thumbsu
