JAXDEE6
Unknown specific Error Names, there are major issues on both sides. I'm trying to conclude the year first, and "estimated error and/value"...? Thanks, JAX Year 1977? Administrator NickiO CS Posted March 15, 2023 Administrator Share Posted March 15, 2023 Hello @JAXDEE6, Thank you for reaching out to us. Unfortunately, we are not able to identify or authenticate coins via photos. Submission and evaluation by the grading team are required. You may want to visit a local NGC Authorized dealer to discuss the coin and its potential value. You can find dealers here: NGC | Dealer Locator. Additionally, NGC cannot provide a monetary value for your coins. If you choose to submit, you will need to provide a declared value. The value we ask you for is an insurance value, a number you would feel comfortable with in terms of a replacement value if your coin was lost or damaged while with us. We encourage you to be conservative as we do not reimburse you if you over-value your coin. If your coin is grossly undervalued, we reserve the right to change the grading fee accordingly. If you have any questions, let us know. Thank you.
Sandon
Welcome to the NGC chat board. Although NGC doesn't provide free opinions, members of the forum do. Your 1977 Lincoln cent does not exhibit any mint error. It has simply been gouged (damaged) by a tool or other hard object after it left the mint. Its value is one cent. (The copper it contains is worth more, but it is illegal to melt them.) To learn what actual mint errors look like and what causes them, see NGC Search Results | NGC (ngccoin.com) . You can also refer to such sites as error-ref.com. varietyvista.com, and doubleddie.com. JAXDEE6
JAXDEE6
Thanks Sandon! You're right. Someone mentioned those smooth concaved dips were similar to BB Gun shots he unfortunately discovered on a Wheat Penny.
