Weight of a coin in holder

I had bought a coin from Heritage-- a 1808 10 Cash from India Madras for which they claimed it was a rare one with a thick planchet (heavy issue) with a medal rotation.

Recently during a discussion it came up that the coin might not be the thick planchet issue and the only way to find out was to crack and weight it. I do not want to lose the older older and also the fantastic provenance. The certification page listed the weight retrospectively as 6.47g (as Heritage had given). My questions are--

1- Is there an internal record kept of the weight of the coin which was used to update it later on?

2- If no such records are kept then is it possible to find out the weight of the coin by weighing the coin in slab and then subtracting the weight of the older holder?

I really want to get to the bottom of this and would really appreciate it if the NGC folks can get me the answer.

Thank you!
