Can you guys help me figure out if this is the small or large date. I'm second guessing myself. I thought for sure it was the small date but the more I look at it im thinking it's the large date.

It's large, once you note the differences they are super easy to identify.  I always look at the shape of the 2 and the distance of the 2 from the rim.

See the attached which shows the shape of the "2" and distance to the rim @l.cutlerwas talking about, along with other indicators if you get past that.

But keep in mind your odds are better taking 200 pennies and buying a Power Ball ticket and hitting that vs finding a 1982-D small date copper penny.

 Everyone notices different identifiers, but for me I can tell from the shape of the '2' from across the room.

Mine is the distance from the tail of the 2 from the edge. 
 

Large, largo, groß. Not small.
