The answer: Click on your username in the upper right corner of the screen to open a menu where you can select 'Ignored Users'. That page will allow you to add as many users as you like. This will not prevent you from seeing an ignored user's post if someone quotes them so you'll have to make an effort to ignore those if you truly do not want to communicate with that person.
