1974 D Lamination error? 1 1

Is this lamination and if not, what is the term that would be used for the excess material on this coin. Also, the N in IN looks like something other than damage. Info would be great.

It looks like Post mint damage to me and maybe a spot of something stuck to the coin no mater what it is, it is not in very good shape to be something collectable . Sorry

It kinda looks like copper plating damage revealing a zinc core on the obv at 2:30, but I think plating wasn't used until 1982 and that date should be 95% copper.
