Hello all! I have this graded V nickel (ANACS61:() and was wondering what you all see on this coin (Obverse side).  I believe it's a thin lamination error.

Maybe, but it's hard to tell from the pics. In any case I don't believe it is worth resubmitting to have this noted.

Thanks Mike! Me either, but I thought it was neat to find this out after purchasing it for less than grading fees. Why people have coins like this (low value) , graded is beyond me and Bed Bath and Beyond also.xD

Do you guys know why these coins are very common in such high grades?

@SALV1966 can we see the entire holder?

I think it may have been a planchet flaw perhaps a lamination that fell off before striking.   I say before the coin was struck as that area goes under the star yet the star is unaffected by whatever is going on.   It could also just be a stain, difficult to say from photos, as you have the coin in hand can you tell if there is a height difference between the fields and that area,  By that I mean does the metal look to have a step up/down where the two meet.

As for getting it below grading cost, the holder, grade, and series have a lot to do with that.

Okay, I won't tell him.   :roflmao:
