I was just wondering if this is the 1941s fs-511 large s? I was looking at my Merc dimes, and I noticed this one has the leaf of the branch touching the s just like the large s variety. But it's pretty worn down so I I'm unable to tell if the s match's what it's supposed to be any help appreciated.IMG_20220109_160359_03.jpg.5298779ceb199c2c1156cfc7999ac875.jpgIMG_20220109_160359_02.jpg.80d291f93445715723e207d1b12dad90.jpgIMG_20220109_160359_01.jpg.9f15be8f5092c26a9aa8d7e9a65883e3.jpg

I'm with the others, Anthony.  Definite Small S.  The photos Woods posted are excellent and show the differences very well.

I typically look for the notch at the bottom on the small S. The large S is basically flat all the way across.

You know, Lem E, I never thought about it that way.....but you're right.  The Large S is very flat.  That's a good diagnostic to use, I'd say.

To me it’s the quickest “at a glance” way to tell, barring any damage of course. It’s the same on nickels.

Definitely.  I'd also say that would work well on cents.  When I worked at the coin shop, I was the "check it for varieties" guy.  Yep.  You read that right......the ancient/German/Canadian coin guy was the check the U.S. coins for varieties guy!! But I love to read coin books on almost anything and I'm pretty good at remembering those little details.  The flatness is a great pickup because they're all pretty flat on the 1941 Large S coins.
