If I had to guess, I'd say the die got filled with grease in that spot. The motto is also missing a piece, right adjacent. I think this is a common error that doesn't get a premium.

Yes, it looks like a minor debris (grease) filled die error.  Interesting and worth saving if you like it, but it doesn't add any additional value

Yep filled die, very common quality control issue with every denomination the mint produces.   Fun find but no value over the face value.
