At the end of UNUM it looks like there's is a 2 and something else. Is this pmd and if so how they do it? I'm clueless to any of this really. I know very little about coins. Any help much appreciated

Welcome to the forum, the nickel in your photos is discolored and you are experiencing pareidolia.   Like when you see your dog's face in a cloud, it looks like a two just by happenstance there is nothing actually there other than the substance that stained the coin.

Coinbuf nailed it.  I see nothing that looks like a "2" on your coin where you said you saw one.  When you first start with coins, you can sometimes see things everywhere on them, but typically there's nothing or it's damage of some sort.  I know that's a bummer, but it's the truth.  I know that I went through that when I started back up with coins as an adult in 1999.
