I would say it was turned into a piece of jewelry or the like at some point. That happened quite a bit back in the day.

That was my first thought too. Still is my oldest coin, so far.

I think somebody punched holes in it.

It's either a six pence or a shilling, both had the same design and there is no way to judge size.  If I remember correctly the 1787 six pence and shilling were the only silver coins struck from 1760 when George came to the throne and 1816.

Yes I read all comments. I want preserve it, but I am a taxidermist who makes jewelry so who knows ... 

It is my oldest coin as of yet.
