Old W = New + on Franklin Half Dollars? 1 1

Hello, does a W in the grade listing equate to a + currently?

I am looking at a coin graded “PF 68 W ULTRA CAM” in an older holder.

Would that be equivalent to “PF 68 + ULTRA CAM” if graded today?

Just guessing here but would the "W" mean WITH? I don't think it's equivalent to a + designation.

It means “white” for a clean untoned coin. Those were designations that were only used for about 2 years I think. There is also a designation T for a toned coin.

Here is my Appalachian nickel in a holder from that small window in time where both the star and T designations were used.
