1949 Masonic Penny???

2 posts in this topic

I bought me a lot of wheat pennies, and by a lot, I mean a LOT, like 57 rolls of 50. Into roll 13 I came across this penny with a Masonic symbol. Any information would be helpful. Ignore the black and white image, I hit the wrong button.

Again, posted in wrong Forum, again, maybe a moderator will move it.

To answer your question, that is called a counterstamp. There are many variations but as this was done after the coin was struck, technically they are considered damage although some people do collect them.
