age of slab

2 posts in this topic

I would like to be able to tell the approximate age of the slab, i.e., what generation holder I am looking at. From this, I gather I can get an approximate period during which the coin was slabbed.

Is there some way, appearance, slab thickness, paper insert characteristics, etc., that I can utilize to arrive at an approximate age?

Thanks.

The only reference material that I am aware of is a book published on the subject, that would probably be your best bet in obtaining all of the information you are looking for. I forget the exact name and author, but go over to the regular coin forums and post a thread and someone there should be able to help you with the name, where to find, etc....

Thanks,
