1894 Indian head Mint error or post mint

7 posts in this topic

1894 Indian Head penny I found at a local coin store. I picked it out for like $1.50 because it looked strange and I wanted to learn more about the cause of the damage.

I thank everyone for their comments and opinions. Everyone has been extremely helpful and kind. ❤🧡💛

It can only be can error if it happens while the coin is being struck. Once it is ejected from the striking chamber, anything that happens to the coin after that whether intentional or from being in circulation is considered damage.

Damage from being in circulation?

Damage that occurred after it was struck,  Where, when, and how it happened doesn't matter, it is just damage.
