Brad adams Posted August 31, 2020 Posted August 31, 2020 1978 penny I know it has some damage on it but it looks like to me it striking error or struck over another coin.....can u please help me determine if its damage or a mint error
Voelker Posted August 31, 2020 Posted August 31, 2020 I've not been into collecting long but to me it just looks like a beat to hell penny. What sets it off from normal wear? Anything you can tell in person?
Coinbuf Posted August 31, 2020 Posted August 31, 2020 Just pocket change that has been thru heck and back.
Brad adams Posted August 31, 2020 Author Posted August 31, 2020 The only thing that I can really tell is that it's a real light yellow colored like it be a different alloy it weights 3.219 grams. The reverse to me looks like bad damage but the obverse looks like there is another face in opposite directions.
James_OldeTowne Posted August 31, 2020 Posted August 31, 2020 It's merely an ordinary cent that has been heavily abused.
Greenstang Posted August 31, 2020 Posted August 31, 2020 Weight is within tolerance for a copper cent. Looks like environmental damage, not something that could happen when the coin was struck.
