Strange 1946 pennie

Can anyone help me identify what happened to this pennie.  It looks like 47 was attempted to be stamped over 46.  May be hints of die cracking also.  Underneath is a proper 46 for comparison.  Any insight will be helpful.  Thanks!!

Steve

I doubt very much that it was restruck with a 1947 die, either the metal was displaced due to a hit, or because the line is so uniform and straight I am wondering if someone was experimenting and created the line.

Welcome to the Forum

Looks to me like it has taken a hit and with copper being fairly soft, had pushed the metal over. You can see the original outline of the 6. Also those are scratches, not die cracks.

I'm in the "took a hit" camp. There's another one at the bow tie that also moved a lot of metal, and also in a relatively straight line.
