My 1974 quarter, Philadelphia no mint mark,  weighs 5.55 does anyone know why?  It looks strange to me but can't out my finger on it.  Thanks for any asvice.

5.55 grams (if that is the unit of measurement you are using - you didn't say) is within acceptable  mint tolerance for a clad quarter. 

As far as why it looks strange, that is hard to say without pictures of the coin.

We cannot provide you any information on a quarter we cannot see, if you provide clear photos of both sides of the coin I'm sure someone can help you.
