1837 Large cent question 0

I have an 1837 large cent that is pretty  dirty/corroded dark spots etc Pictures attached

just asking folks who know more than me is it worth it to have in cleaned by NGC and graded?

Maybe it's the images, but it looks gilded to me. Perhaps someone was trying to pass it off as $10 gold? The obverse and diameters are pretty similar.

You can try soaking it in acetone for about 24 hrs. If it is paint or holding, that might remove it.

If that's really what it is, I'd leave it alone, seems like it would have more interest/value as a possible "racketeer" coin.
