is this a real error? should I have it graded?

Welcome to the Forum.

Not an error, just damage. (PMD). It is only an error if it happens during the striking of coin and there is no way that could possibly happen at that time

Someone put your coin on the concrete, placed another Lincoln cent on top of it, and whacked it with a hammer. 

That's my story, and I'm sticking to it. ;)

Exactly. Take a cent out of your pocket, look at the position of "LIBERTY," then turn it over, and imagine the position of the word. Or, rub the obverse of the coin with a pencil, then turn it over and press it against a piece of paper. The words will all be reversed.
