I'd have to say plated. I see copper bleeding through in various places. Lots and lots of plated coins out there - high school experiments, novelties, deliberate attempts at deception, etc.

Plated super common to see things like this, guys working at the chrome shop get bored and dump lots of stuff in the vats for fun.
