Doubling in rim 0

I noticed that the left rim of a 1985 penny appeared to be doubled and am wondering how this occurred. It doesn’t appear to be a DDO so I’m very confused, your help is appreciated : )

Looks like a slight misalignment of the obverse and reverse dies.

So the doubling I’m seeing would be the planchet then?

I'm not really sure how to answer that.

The obverse die shifted slightly to the right as the coin was struck, creating a slightly off-center strike on the obverse. (Not to be confused with a true Off Center Strike, in which the planchet is not centered between the dies when struck.)
