Another great example of what can go wrong. Good example of a strike thru grease. I liked this one a lot for the variations it caused. Looks like damage until you realize the rim has none. Also, If you look for the initials FG on the reverse, you will notice a little up and to the right of it, a barely visible double of those same initials. Good example.

Maybe the die was filed? The lines all seem to be under the features. I may be completely wrong. Other examples of "grease strikes" had the closest similarities. Is there a another possibility im not familiar with maybe?
