Bad die, MD, The works!

Theres no value, but i found a cool example of the variety of distortions you can get from die deterioration. It has lots of exaggerated MD, the letter E has double stems in the middle. Just an all around great example of what can go wrong with a bad die. Not so much on the obverse, but the upper left of the reverse is really noticeable.

That's a great example of DDD. When the die starts to get worn, the metal flows towards the rim instead of in the cavity of the letters. Good photo for a teaching tool.

I always mix those up. I said die deterioration, which was correct, but MD (machine dbling) is not what i meant lol. You are correct DDD. I found this penny a few weeks ago. Came across it again while organizing some of my misc. Really good example.
