hello, looking for any help on this coin...first wanting to know if the toning is real or artificial, also what it could be as for a grade. Any info would be appreciated, thanks.

The front of the coin looks like it was dipped, I could wrong, but I would guess maybe the toning is real and the two lines were rubber bands wrapped around them... if it wasn’t cleaned maybe it would grade XF45?

Looks like a pretty nasty edge ding at 12:00. Details are maybe EF, but the damage is disfiguring. And the color looks very strange especially the diff between obverse and reverse. I wouldn't have high expectations.

Thanks for the info, not sending in for grading just trying to see if I’m getting better at it. I always going 1-2 grades under what I’m thinking as I’m new at this.

Can't tell from the photos whether what I see is small amounts of residual mint luster in protected areas, but for EF, that's one thing my book says you've got to have. Sometimes takes very good magnification to see some remaining flow lines. The obverse photo is much harder to judge because I can't get a clear look at the cotton leaves and bolls, which are among the primary indicators.
