Help with Medieval (?) Silver/billon ID
0

1 post in this topic

Hi all - fist time post - I appreciate any help with identifying this coin. Coin is countermarked with 1640 French edict fleur de lis but I cannot find the host type. I looked through Roberts' silver coins of medieval france but could not find the cross style much less the large 'X' figure on the opposite side...I realize it could be from another country but I don't know where to look -  I guess I need a bigger library!  I would appreciate any help. Coin weighs 16.4 grains and appears to be a silver or billon composition. Thank you!!.
