The area in question is the same on all questionable coins. Franklins eye and mouth have little or no detail, while the areas are very brightly shined. I’ ll attach a picture. Please tell me if this lack of detail is from a soft strike or if the detail was whizzed away. Thanks much.

The coin illustrated does not appear to have been whizzed. The blurry lines are from die erosion, and the luster appears to be natural.

Thank you for the info. Would this die erosion detract from a grade if the coin was sent in to be graded?

The die erosion is not severe enough that it should affect the numeric grade, though a discriminating buyer might avoid the coin for one struck from fresher dies.
