1990 no mark penny, unusual

Breaks in the plating allowed air and moisture access to the zinc.  The zinc, copper and moisture sets up electrolytic corrosion, zinc rot, which attacks the metal and breaks it down into zinc oxide.  The result is what you see on your cent.
