1972 IKE dollars

Hi Darryl,

The differences are easiest to discern by looking at the Earth on the reverse.  This site has a picture of all three Earths together:

If you're a collector of Ike dollars and have a collection that includes the S mint 40% silver Uncirculated coins, there's another way I was taught early on in my collecting life.  The 1971-S Unc is a Type 1, the 1972-S Unc is a Type 2 and the 1973-S Unc is a Type 3.  Basically, the reverse styles correspond to the last number of the date.

I hope this has helped you some!

~Tom
