43-P is a very common coin for its age, interesting partly because the mint mark is so big and prominent and it actually has a P (in those days no MM at all meant the US Mint at Philly; the others have been/are branch mints). The coin is about 35% silver, total Ag weight slightly less than a silver dime. Really nice ones are very pretty, but most that one sees are worn and dark and not very valuable (yet interesting, and always worth at least the silver content).

I remember, nearly fifty years ago, my own excitement at turning up a worn 43-P in change. Glad to see the torch picked up.
