Bezels

2 posts in this topic

Can NCS do anything with coins that have been placed in jewelry bezels. If so please advise on how they should be submitted for evaluation and/or conservation. Should the bezel be removed prior to submission or should the coin just be sent in as is with the bezel in place.

Unfortunately as far as conservation is concerned, we would not be able to do much for your coin.

We are not a restoration service, so we would not be able to fix any damage that may have occured due to your coin being in jewelry. As far as conservation is concerned, we could certainly remove any residues on your piece.

That damage would make your coin a No Grade with NGC. Conservation would likely not make your coin able to be certified by NGC. We could certainly certify your coin as genuine with a Details Grade in an NCS holder.

If your coin would be submitted for being certified in a Details Grade holder, it should be free of the bezel.
