Adjustment Marks on U.S. Minor Coinage

7 posts in this topic

Did the U.S. Mint ever add adjustment marks to early U.S. minor coinage, and specifically copper half cents and large cents? My thought is no, but I was hoping someone with more experience than I have would chime in.

The first mint only made adjustments to gold and silver planchets. If you see an "adjustment mark pattern" of scratches on a half cent or large cent, it's post mint damage.
