Yet a round trip ticket to cross the Atlantic, on board the Lusitania was $250.00.

Translated to today's dollars, you could travel around the world for three months making about a dozen different stops at your favorite destinations, have funds to stay at some of the finest hotels and still have money left over.

Go figure.

That was only for the first 1/4th of the trip. If they made it the rest of the way without getting sunk..................... 893whatthe.gif

Well, that would be 1915 (May 5th), not 1914, the subject of this thread. . .

It's interesting to view these figures in comparison to 1960 Blue Book (46 years later) and 2005 Coin Values (91 years later):

1960

1794 Fine $70

1794 Good $35

1797 Fine $265

1801 Good $13

1802 Good $12 NOTE: 1960 Blue Book doesn't list VG.

1815 Fine $30 NOTE: 1960 Blue Book doesn't list AU.

2005

1794 F-12 $7000

1794 G-4 $2800

1797 F-12 $45000

1801 G-4 $250

1802 G-4 $250

1815 AU-58 $9500

If you were able to travel back in time just to take a cruise on the Lusitania, you would only need one G-4 1802 half dollar to pay for the fare.
