1934 D Peace Dollar Question

6 posts in this topic

I bought this coin recently for a pretty good price in my opinion. Only question i have about it is the mintmark. Does anything bad stand out about the mint mark or does it look all good to you guys? Thank you for your time.

The mintmark seems fine. It's the Small D style, which is slightly the scarcer of the two for 1934-D. Be sure to check the obverse to see if it's doubled as shown here:

It looks fine. The mintmark, especially its outline, will be sharper than other details because it was manually punched into each working die, while the balance of the design came from mechanically reduced hubs and working dies.

PS: You also made a nice looking photo!
