Removing smudge on the capsule of a 1986 Liberty Silver Dollar

I am 99.99% sure the coin was never removed from the capsule.The smudge is almost certainly on the outside of the Capsule. Is there a safe way to remove smudge without making matters worse. It's up for sale on Ebay and I have to disclose the flaw.

 

Please advise......

Welcome to the forum.

 

I would think you'd be able to tell whether the smudge is on the coin, but either way, I'd leave it alone. If you're not sure, it's best to make note of it in your listing. It shouldn't have much impact on the selling price.
