Planchet Error

I was going through another bag of 2001 Kennedys (Mixed P&D) this evening and I found one that is missing the nickel layer on the reverse. The copper layer looks much prettier than the nickel. Will you grade and attribute this coin under Variety Plus without documentation? I'll probably be in your office sometime next week and I'd like to bring it with me.

Hi Chris,

 

What you are describing would fall under the mint error service, and should be submitted under the appropriate tier, i.e. modern service in this case. There is no need to pay for the Variety Plus service in this instance.

 

Sounds like a cool find you made there, congrats.
