will have to see it to see if color looks like pics I guess. Doesn't recoloring usually make copper coins look darker than this one?

 

Not necessarily. You can get this look if the coin had been stripped to red color and then toned down with sulfur.

 

This color has a very unnatural look to it. It could be a white balance issue with the photo, or the photo could have been "juiced" to enhance the color.

received the coin today. Looked a bit more tan and less red than sellers pics but the rim looked odd. 85% of it was a uniform shade of brown and the other areas looked almost black and a more reddish untoned look next to the dark area. I think the recolored theory might be right.
