Is there a way to date certification #'s?

When I get a coin in an old NGC holder, I often wonder how long ago it was graded?

 

My question, is there a way to tell what year a coin was graded by the certification number?

 

As an Example: Cert 001000-001 through 632000-001 = Year 1987/1988

Cert 632001-001 through 999999-001 = Year 1989

And so on....

 

Does any information like this exist?

Hi Jeremiah,

 

The certification number is not an indicator of when a coin was graded. There is not a reference available to date certification numbers.
