Loupe De Loupe?

4 posts in this topic

I use a Bausch and Lomb 7X Toolmaker's loupe. There are many available magnifier sizes and options up to Zeiss $100+ loupes. Many of the $10-$15 folding magnifiers are fine for taking to a show or whatever. I feel that over 7X magnification is not necessary and should not be the criteria in buying coins. Natural sunlighting is the best light, most flourescent is just ok unless it is an Ott Lamp. I also use halogen for coin surfaces, not color.

I like the Bausch & Lomb Coddington 10X. I like this one because there is no distortion when looking through the lens. Light just use a regular 60 -100 watt incandesent bulb. I have a hologen lamp I also use.
