1776 Continental Curency Coin: Fake or Authentic?

7 posts in this topic

I found this coin in my mother's keepsakes after she died. Since there is a chance this could be a fake, I wanted to see if someone could verify before I spent the time and money getting it authenticated. Can someone please help?

Reproductions of this coin (or medal) have been made for many, many decades.

Genuine examples have been expensive for many, many decades, so unless your mother kept it among her most valuable possessions, I would say there's a good chance she bought it as a souvenir when she visited Independence Hall or Jamestown or someplace like that.

One easy check is to look at the edge to see if there's a seam running along the edge - if so, you certainly have a reproduction.
