Decent Grades from Recent NGC Submission

4 posts in this topic

I've spent the large majority of the past several years collecting Roosevelt dimes. But I do have some interest in some world coins, particularly from Mexico. So, with the five free submission coupons we get for renewing NGC membership, I sent in three Mexican and two Peruvian coins. I just saw that the grades were posted in the collector tracking and they're decent considering the coins. Here was the whole submission:

Before I talk about them, I want to mention that NGC had these coins graded and shipped well under the 12-day turnaround time. I can't say exactly how long it took them to grade because I haven't check the collector tracking in a few days. But it has only been 8 business days since they received the coins, and they are already on their way back to me. So, thank you NGC for the speedy service!

The 1951 Mexico 20 centavos is the key date for the 1943-1974 Mexican 20 centavo. There are actually three variants of design for the 1943-1974 Mexican 20 centavo (KM#439, #440, #441) But all of the variants share the same basic design, so I just consider all three as one set.

MS 65 RB is a very middle of the road grade for a 1951. But it can be a little tricky difficult to find in RD without paying through the nose. So I'm quite happy with the grade.

The 1968 Mexico 20 centavos at MS 64 BN is actually a low grade for the date. However, this coin has a very nice-looking tone all over, so, again, I'm happy with the grade. This is NGC's photo. And you really can't see the toning too much. But in hand, this is a nice-looking coin.

The 1983 Peru 5 soles (KM# 271)...these were two that I was most excited about. There's really nothing special about this coin except it had a very low mintage at only 650. At MS 65, this coin is top pop....but that really doesn't mean anything because there is only one other 1983 Peru 5 soles in NGC's registry, which is also at MS 65

I actually have two more unc. raw 1983 Peru 5 soles. If you have any burning desire for them, I think I could be easily persuaded to sell them. PM me.
