Is there a post anywhere that breaks down exactly how the membership credit work?

Thanks for your question. Upon joining or renewing, the credit is automatically put on your account.

 

If your account has a join/renewal grading credit, it will be applied automatically when your submission is received. For example, if you have a $150 new member grading credit and the grading fees are $200, you will only be charged $50 for grading fees. If paying with check or money order, you may deduct your grading credit from the amount to pay. The grading credit applies to grading fees only and excludes shipping and handling fees.
