...Heck -- I'll through in 17 slightly used frequent flyer miles IN ADDITION to the 73 cents.....Now that's quite an offer.

Got a quick response from NGC. The S in S$1 on all NGC certified Morgan & Peace dollars, which is just to the right of the date and mint mark stands for silver.

 

You are definitely right on top of things.... ;)

S$1 is used on all silver dollars through 1935, T$1 is used for trade dollars, G$1 is used for gold dollars and $1 is used for all dollars 1971 to date, regardless of composition. These later coins are also labeled SILVER or CLAD, whenever both compositions were used.

To use chickens, the metal/ type is self-evident; but, it matters to the database designers.
