It's St. Paddy's Day! How About an Irish Related Civil War Token?

1 post in this topic

Here is an Irish related Civil War token. This piece is listed as Fuld IL 150-AS-1. It is rated as an R-5 (75 to 200 known). What I call the obverse because it interests me the more advertises that this company, which was run by George Whitney (?), would provide transfers to the Bank of Ireland in amounts of one pound or more. The reverse advertises that the company will provide passage certificates (visas ?) from Liverpool to Chicago. In other word Irish relatives in American could send money to the folks back home and help them immigrate to America.

I got part of my information from the new Civil War token store card book that was released a few months ago.

If anyone has any information about George Whitney of Chicago, I'd like to know about it.
