Terminology.

I collect proof Franklins. What is it called when the surface of a proof coin appears to have dust on it? The effect seems to be magnified in photo enlargements. I`ve been told that it`s called haze, but I`ve always thought that haze referred to a milky fog some surfaces exhibit. Thanks

Thanks for your question. Using the term haze is appropriate. It can apply to a uniform coating or a dust like appearance.
